Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the first phase of the state government’s ambitious Knowledge, Health, and Research City (KHIR City) on Thursday, September 26.
Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, MB Patil, announced that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and other cabinet members will also participate in the event, which will take place at 11 a.m. in the banquet hall of Vidhana Soudha.
Highlighting the significance of this project, Patil said the concept of this hi-tech city will elevate Bengaluru’s status on the global stage. The first phase will span 500 acres near the satellite town ring road between Dabaspet and Doddaballapur, with potential expansion up to 5,000 acres.
The focus of KHIR City will be on knowledge, health, research, and innovation. This project is expected to attract investments worth Rs 40,000 crore and make a significant contribution to the state’s economy.
The city will also prioritise startups, biosciences, and semiconductors, with the potential to generate approximately one lakh jobs, both direct and indirect, Patil added.
